Championing the Joy of Reading

We are delighted to share that the Alberta Foundation for the Arts has renewed its funding for the Calgary Public Library’s 2018 Author-in-Residence.

Over 12 weeks, the Author-in-Residence provides professional writing advice, lectures, and workshops to members of the community who are interested in developing their writing talents.

Last year, the Library saw a 60% increase in the number of patrons who attended free workshops with Author-in-Residence Bruce Hunter. While we can’t yet name the 2018 Author-in-Residence, we can share that it will be the first nonfiction author.

While the grant from the Alberta Foundation of the Arts will support the majority of the 2018 program, support from donors will allow the Library to offer more emergent writer support sessions and potentially extend the 12-week program. Donate to support the Library’s Author-in-Residence program today.
