The Calgary Public Library is our city’s largest provider of free, high quality early learning support and annually welcomes more than 500,000 children under five and their parents across its network of community libraries. To support Calgary’s children and families, we have created a transformative model for early childhood learning.

Annie Davidson Opera:

Case Study

This contemporary opera was created from a partnership between the Calgary Public Library and Cowtown Opera, with support from the Rozsa Foundation, the Calgary Foundation and Friends of the Library. The opera celebrates Annie Davidson’s life and inspires families and individuals to discover their “inner Annie” and create meaningful change within their communities.

Over the past four years, the initiative has received an overwhelming response from Calgarians and has added new arts and culture partners every year.
